What a weekend! After the fateful Fortuna incident, we went off to the UMSA ball!! I was looking around the other day for formal attire like a blazer, coat or mandarin suit but they were all soooo expensive and ugly looking hahah... think i should tailor a suit soon back home man.. but i managed to borrow Shuping's blazer yes a ladies blazer.. the tapered cut fits my 28 inch waist perfectly except that it was tight around the shoulders and arms.. hehe..
The theme of the ball was the Revival of the Fairytale. Which meant a lot a LOT of gals came as fairies. Man, dont they all look alike??? Well at least they tried. Not like most of the guys who just came like me in standard gear. Some of the guys went all the way though. I saw Puss in Boots, Aladdin, Zorro (dunno which fairy tale haha) and a couple of pirates too.. At least no one tried to be Prince Charming haha..
The decor was quite home made BUT BUT BUT, the fashion catwalk, the performances, the skits and the videos were great so they more than made up for it. The food was served buffet style and it was decent chow lar..
After the ball, we had an after ball party at a bar called the Sixth Sense.. The funniest thing was that this bar was right beside this "adult" store so hahah i tot that was pretty funny. Shots and beers went around and ah.. i was there pondering why do people want to get high and just zone out on the dance floor. Its probably just a temp high to forget all your cares for THAT moment i guess... hahah the wonders of thick makeup, dim lighting and lots of alcohol. Basically ur senses and just shot, especially ur eyes lol..

Crash is such a good movie man.. it ranks all the way up there with American History X for me. Funnily they are both about racism but i guess the greater story is about wrongs being righted in a very bittersweet way.. Bittersweet tears.. are they out of grief or joy? i guess both...
much like real life...
So far these are the 2 movies that are really meaningful for me... yeah go watch them if u have time. Worth the time.

Something happened to me today... something that had never happened before. lol actually a lot of things i also experienced for the first time here.. but nvm...
Yesterday i went out wif a group of frens to a lan cafe to DOTA!! hahaha its really been a long time since i had lanned so it was really fun except for the sad fact we lost all our games quite horribly lol. I was the stand in for one of the original team mates as my friends are going to compete in a dota competition. The other team was always good and they had worked out their team makeup and strategy which is really strong compared to us wif not much idea whats happening lol.. except for the fact that we have more or less settled on hero matchups except me.. sighz.. but nvm.. i will think of it soon.. i hate farming tho.. bleahz..
What was out of the blue at that very time was that Chiayee received a call from Skycity asking for me. Apparently someone yesterday made a booking at Fortuna Restuarant in MY NAME and HER cell phone number and ordered food for 5~6 people amounting to 140 bugs and WALKED OUT without paying. Ok to understand this.. the system here works like this.. u can walk in walk out.. can even pay later.. as they work on trust principle. The number and name they dun check, so no forms of ID or Call registry... So yeah that caused a huge ruckus and we waited to today after church to settle it. So we called, haggled and argued with the restaurant manager and finally told them to go to security and then if unresolved go to the police. However the security manager was reallly nice to us and just took Chiayee's statement and ended the investigations. It may sound simple in writing but wow it did really stress us out man... she even called her parents in malaysia...
All this barely 3 hrs before my UMSA ball haha.. I gonna look like a clone coz i borrowed Shuping's blazer and Ying leong's tie.. might not wear the tie though as i dun like formalz.... kk time to rest and relax before tonight.. hopefully i will be rewarded by winning the lucky draw and getting something good hahah.. given my "luck" today..

Whewww..
Its finally over, the 3 papers. Chem Phy and Biosci. Chem i did pretty well and got back my results already... phy shld be ok and the same for Biosci.. Cant believe i was sooo stressed out by biosci and the 1000000 reactions pathways for glucose stuff that i had the shakes and the nausea. Bleahz.. been a really long time since exam stress hit me that hard. I guess it was mostly self imposed pressure?? And i proved myself right again that i tend to predict qns correctly (but fail to heed my own advice grrr).. I think i better listen to my own predictions man since they had always been working quite accurately..
Rewarded myself to the largest pizza Heat could give me and after that hearty dinner i turned in early as i felt extremely tired unlike normal when i wld be so excited to play to the max after my papers.. hmm signs of aging??? i dunno..
BUT.. holidays are HERE!!! WHeeee!!! tata..

Hahaha ok kinda outta point but i realised its BEEN a really long while since i wrote any stories. I think that habit of mine just died although i still find myself still suddenly spacing out wif all sorts of alternative scenarios running in my head. Vivid movies play in my head with myself as the lead going thru all sorts of improbable situations. LoL my brain is overactive.
Which is a pain in the neck when i have to force myself to look thru my notes for the next 3 exams for the gazillion time. I guess in the past i had a perverse motivation to do endless preparation coz of the cut throat compeition and the intense rush of beating the best wif half a mark. But i guess those days are over, and i dun really find any motivation for hot housing myself other than the "insane" personal goal of maintaining a min grade of A+ for every subject lol.
HAiz i could think of a million things to do but study. Gaming, movies, serials, my japanese, korean and guitar all laze aside gathering dust. I promise myself endless times to use them but i just cant get started wif exams looming ahead. LOL...
I had an enlightening tok wif Guojun and my goodness his galfren is HAAAAAWWWT hahaha... Seriously Guojun i think u are freaking lucky man coz what are the chances that u chat up a ACJC dancer at a pub due to mutual frens and hit it off before u fly overseas?!?! hahaha
And man, i heard fengwei my old comrade at RIBB being a totally changed person from his military freakiness when he was younger but since reading his blog (wif his GF >_< !!) this botak boy has gone fat, lazy and sociable?!?! hahah people really change man..
Went wif chiayee to this church in Onehunga wif Peter and Wendy, our taiwanese frens, as it was a gospel outreach. It was pretty ok but i had to be interpreter for Chiayee muhahaha although my chinese also damn rusty. There were like 400 people there so yes it was very very crowded but there was a lot of food (and a lot of malaysian accents around haha). I find the people there quite nice. Hmm mebbe next time i shall go to the friday nite meetings. After all, my fri nights havent been well spent.
Gotta make myself pull thru this 72hrs... I am not panicky or what, just suffering a tad of burnout from too much revision since too long ago.. Wednesday come come come!!
Anyway yes my blog has been very dry ah, my apologies but this SUnday U all SHALL SEE pics!! Coz i am going to UMSA BALL (Fairy Tale is the theme) haha i think i must be crazy to put myself thru another prom.. bleahz.. well at least there will be nice pics i hope =p
And btw all of u DOTA freaks, recently i was ruling my frens wif DRAGONKNIGHT. hahaha so ironic since u all love to DK me hor?!?!?!?!? hahahahahah

Haiz.. its Friday once again and somehow this aint a happy thing, coz for the next 5 days i will be slogging my guts out again whats new..
Tonight: finish revision and start doing all the papers.
Sat: Go thru papers wif the classmates and derust any stuff.
Sun: Last min derust and papers again.
Mon: Chem paper (15%)
Tues: Phy paper (7.5%)
Wed: Bio paper (40%)
The chem and phy i not that bad.. but the bio is sooo gonna drain me coz on Wed i have 2 labs before the test which is super duper sucky...
Yeah and trouble drops from the sky (literally) for my bro => trouble for me too. and people like me are always so sinful i wonder sometimes why God even bothers. I mean if I am God i will tape myself saying: You're forgiven etc and play it 1 gazillion times to me. Haha.. yeah sometimes its demoralizing to remember how weak we are and how as Joe puts it are vulnerable to habitual sin.
But God is good. He forgives us really, unlike my tape recorder. Which in itself its already a lot of grace.
Hmmm.. amazing eh?

Weekends pass too fast....
I had quite a wednesday coz of 2 labs. Finally had the first proper physics lab which everyone was saying was very hectic and impossible to finish so there I was wif Ain, speeding thru the experiment and completing it way way early. I was probably too happy as I tot well that wasnt so bad right??? WRONG!? the stupid report which i tot will be a piece of cake to write took me 2 hrs!! So in the end, me and Ain were sitting there writing furiously 30min after lab ended! lucky our tutor was pretty nice to wait for us there lor.. so paiseh lor..
So there i was feeling like quite the fool and I went to meet up wif carol for the first time. Hmm she didnt look like the picture she sent me at all so i was kinda ambushed when she walked up to me and said: " You're Daniel right?" haha for a moment i tot who was this lor.. anyway so we spent the lunch hour toking about some places and activities i could find in auckland which i tot wld be useful to her.. haha so boring eh? not much time to do anything else as i had to rush off for my lab so get the important infor out first lar..
Chem lab was much better and i felt like a million bucks for getting my drug prepped nicely although Judy had an A+ for her product which was super duper uper rare!! haha man i wished i had seen her crystals. And i was fascinated by the benzene molecule wif its chair and boat conformers which are so interesting... i really wondered why God designed it that way. I mean ooh its cool but what is it's function?? bleah i needa learn more chem before i can answer that.
I managed to buy my return ticket for my end of year trip on Thursday liao. So yeah i am glad that thing is outta my way coz it had been a huge block blocking my vision. Now for the accomodation and the visa haha.. well later i mean. Other than me Kris and Zhengjie completing a game of SWAT WC3, i guess the other significant thing was this. I was sitting under my clothes rack which only had my towel spread out over it studying, and it reminded me a lot of the days when i was still a young kid. Playing cowboys and indians wif samuel where we would build tents outta pillows, cushions, mattresses and blankets and pretend that we were camping. I guess those days were over in a flash but they were good days..
Today's message was pretty interesting coz it was a lecture on Christain economics and finance really. The speaker spoke about the year of liberty (every 50th year when land was returned to the old owners, slaves were freed, debts written over yada yada) and it was really quite a novel way of income redistribution. As he said: 49 years of capitalism and 1 year of communism. He specialised in slum works so he was telling how the rich should give some of their wealth away and the poor shld manage their wealth so that all could be within a range of equity. Not too much so that i forget thee nor too little lest i sin. What really interests me was the really practical way he gave so a group of families could work their way outta debt via common capital funds and micro finance.... wooo.. how to make money work! muhahah..
Haiz.. weekend's over. 5th week cometh. Exams cometh. UMSA ball cometh. and the holidays cometh. zzzzzzoooooooooooooooom.

Hmmm time flies.. today is the eve of National Day for Singapore. Not that i am particularly patriotic but i find it extremely sobering to know that 364 days ago I wld have been preparing for my final supervision run at the Padang for last year's NDP. Its crazy coz it REALLY seeems like yesterday when I had to come down sooo often to Padang wif the guys, my specs and Jackson just to see the same ole thing over and over again 10000 times.. yet here i am already, a year after that seemingly never ending event.
This week didnt start all that well for me. Well on one hand there werent any life threatening, super emergencies or critical crisis or any suicidal depressions. But u know its one of those weeks. Been feeling sore over although i havent been exercising for a week(mebbe thats why!) wif popping vertebra (the cranial ones C1 to C8) and stiff shoulders. Had been jagaing chiayee on and off as she had on and off mild fevers for the last 4~5 days too. Was caught in a shower on Sunday coz i was late for church and raced there in my windbreaker... bleahz.. but it aint that bad. Had a mild flu on Monday which i killed by antihistamines and Feb (amazing how drugs are so powerful.. 2 little pills and a glass of water.. voila! no more stuck and runny nose!) and i am being rocked by headaches ranging from mild to hangoverish types these 2 days too. Coupled this wif lots of deadlines regarding flights, CNY, Accomodation for next year, Bank Accounts and Fees. I wonder why i havent gone all berserk and start snapping at people in my old fashioned grouchy crocodile manner. haha.
Exams in 2 weeks.. wheeeee... gd thing is i had been revising every week and i hope that helps to ease the last min cramming due soon. Bad thing yeah it is in 2 weeks and i have a few online stuff to settle soon too.. just popped up. Holidays are acoming... and plans are amaking.. and money is a draining...
zzzz... I am one of those people who draw a very straight line regarding money. If i have time(ie no rush or important things or luxuries) I wld save ie take the cheapest option. On the other hand, this means if i have no time or there are stuff important or i want to get something, the issue of money is not relevant. Trying to find the in between to me is an unneccessary headache and work of low marginal returns. haha.
On an out of pt note: I wonder if Hugh Hefner had any pt of death reflections of his life after suffering a purported stroke recently. For the uninformed, he is the founder of Playboy and i really wonder at his age, having 3 "girlfriends" is more a publicity stunt, a reflection of his decadence and amoral lifestyle or just a show of bravado? After making Playboy internationally known for a legal pornographic industry, i wonder what legacy does he want to leave behind after his eventual death.
more importantly, how wld he account to his Maker for his actions?

Its only wednesday but i feel sooooooo dead..
Been having a damn bad headache the whole day.. from the time i woke up and right now at 11pm i am still feeling it.. groan.. its strange u know. The brain has no pain receptors in itself so where does the pain from headache come from??? I mean u can drill and mash up ur brain u wont feel a thing lor? Talking abt brains i was playing wif a brain yesterday in my medsci142 class.. yes the human brain. They took someone's brain and soaked it in plastic so it becomes a plasticky model... kinda freaky at first that u are holding someone's brain in my hands lor. But the lab was really gd coz after it u just marvel at how the brain is structured and how the functions are mapped out. I mean, the design is incredible. Actually since taking bio i think the evidence of INTELLIGENT DESIGN is soooo obvious in every living organism. Even the lowly virus is a marvel of bioengineering. I cant even imagine myself desiging a cell much less a brain for that matter. And the brain controls almost every aspect of what makes us HUMAN. So yeah.. that gives a lot of food for tot.
Yeah and today at bio chem lab i am simply amazed at the coincidences that life throws up. I prefer to see divine intervention or humour but yeah to each his own. I missed this lab the last time due to a mess up on my part so it was my first time there and i had to hunt for a empty seat. So there i was listening to the tutor talk sitting beside an empty seat then this lab assistant brings this cute korean gal and asks me if i had a partner. So i said no and somehow this gal appeared very familiar so i made small talk and she was Yooni! I met her a Looooooooooooooong time ago at UMSA bbq where i took her foto wif glady's coz of the pigeons they were feeding! Turns out that she also just changed stream and ended up beside me. How concidental?!
And what makes life more interesting is when we were toking this indian gal beside me overheard i was doing biotech and yeah she was also doing biotech! and she was doing her first sem here so technically i was her senior for half a sem. Lol then for the rest of the lab i was teaching both of them physics! by writing out formulas on tissue paper! LoL, if it werent quite so ridiculous i wld be laffing at what a way to pick up gals LOL coz i could sense that the lab assistants were looking at what we were doing.. (yeah apparently the indian gal was pretty well at least yooni said she was)
Oh yeah on monday right, I experienced 2 yes 2 Fire drills. One was in school just before my Chem lecture and we had to stand in the rain to wait for the drill to be over.. grrr and one was just before i was gonna start doing my prelab work on Medsci Brains.. soooooo bad timings.. and haha on Tuesday i went wif Stacy, Bernie and Chiayee to watch The Lakehouse wif my Telecom hp 241 promotion!! haha its the cheapest movie ticks u can get around here at 4.25 bugs each lol.. so glad i applied for Telecom instead of Vodafone for my HP hahahhahha.. Lake House was not bad (for 425cents) and Keanu Reeves has learnt how to act haha.. well at least decently lar.. Pretty nice show although its bad on the brain wif the time warp stuff.. shant spoil it for those who want to watch it. Btw it was based on a Skorean film by the name of Il Mare.. so it will look pretty familiar.. =p
funny indeed.. haiz time to rest and hope my headache goes away.. and yeah fotos of swan lake up well at least whatever there was =p
