Actually... I think today is the end of the year 06 more than 31st dec or CNY eve, for me at least. Other than a bout of PBD (as usual) and some diarrhoea (not as usual), I think I have comfortably relaxed to go back to another hectic academic year at Auckland Uni. No real sniffles, burning feelings or dramatic last min romantic declarations for me haha. But I wld say I wld miss hot sweaty Singapore, my food, my room, my bed and of coz family and frens. Got used to walking around J8 and my surrounding estates in my gray shirt and shorts and slippers looking like a small ahpek.
Hargh!!! This coming 1st week wld be all soooo hectic I shudder to even think of it. Right from touchdown its non stop action from moving house, paying contracts, making arrangements, visa stuff school right from monday and of coz hse warmings in Empire haha.. given that so many of my frens are living around me like plus minus 1 storey I think this year we wld really become a little village with all the gossip, pot lucks, mass outings and wat have u around. Of coz we wldnt forget our estranged frens in Int Hse, O' Rorke, Railway, Grafton etc etc.. definately will keep ya all in the loop. So many activities and things already demanding my time and attention b4 i even fly there.. wooo I hope I dun bite off more than I can chew man. haha wat to do, some for career some for fun see how lar. Of coz, its time again to expand our social circles with the new batch of asians at ororke and int hse lol..
But as the older i get, i get more laidback when i shld be more go getting me thinks. I wld prefer peace and quiet, a book and a lazy chair and no one to kacao me compared to hustle and bustle. I wld prefer lazing around than puttting myself thru a punishing physical regimen to keep fit. I wld prefer doing things as and when i like it not coz of schedules and worries for the future. haha but then again, after the watershed of 21 yrs old. Being an adult no longer allows you to just think so myopically altho I dun think I like those of my fellow compatriots who are obviously doing things for their CV etc... lol sour grapes on my side heheh
Sometimes i envy exchange students coz they are here only for 6mths to a year. While of coz its more difficult for them to build long term relationships but usually they come in a group and the feel i get from them is really like they are here on a holiday. Constant travelling, exploring etc with grades seemingly to be on a back burner haha.. Seems like so much fun compared to us long timers here to stay, much like building up a second life from scratch. But no use complaining or comparing rite? we shld appreciate wat we have.
Living in an apartment with 1 guy and 2 gals and cooking and everything on our own, I cant help but feel a little apprehensive of how life wld be. Army has shown me how some people can be great frens but not roomies or some great roomies who u cant really call frens. haha of coz army is the extreme where every training day is a pressure cooker meant to crack you but still.. lessons learnt. Wats most impt for success in a flattie is tolerance, mutual respect and concern and of coz chemistry.. haha darn sounds like marriage. haha
From the pearl of the orient (or south china sea) to the sprawl of down under, the clash of 2 cities is inevitable. Time to reorient my self back to the kiwi slang, drop the singlish and live life once more, as the travelling hobbit boi =p
Adios my Sporean Kakis, Kia Ora my Kiwi babies haha..
